If you’re attending the University of Florida this fall, before you go you’ll want to study up on the best places to buy clothing, food, dorm supplies and everything in between while you’re there. Below are the places you’ll definitely want to check out once you get there.

Clothing

All the stores listed below can be found at the Oaks Mall

6275 W Newberry Rd, Gainesville, FL 32605

Forever 21 – men & women

The classic go-to store that has a constantly changing stock. Find everything from fun party dresses, sportswear (at great prices), swimwear and casual clothing. They have a pretty large men’s section and plus size collection as well.

H&M – men & women

Forever 21’s biggest rival that has clothing just as affordable mixed in with some more pricey items. Definitely the place to find some more business-wear pieces such as cute blazers or fitted pants that aren’t jeans. The store also has plenty of fun clothing with every changing selections. They’ve also launched a beauty line if you want to buy some makeup while you’re there.

Charlotte Russe – women

Fun, stylish clothing store that has something from everyone. Find anything from crop tops, body suits, rompers and cardigans as well as basics you can always wear.

Express – men & women

Currently being advertised by Karlie Kloss, Express has everything from casual tops and jeans to going-out dresses and even suits. This store is definitely not in the same price range of the stores above, but definitely worth the splurge if you’re getting ready for something special.

Persona Vintage – vintage clothing

Adorable little vintage store that has a great selection of vintage clothing and accessories. Check their Facebook page to stay updated on their hours and what pieces they have in store. This would be a great place to put together a last minute Halloween costume or find an outfit for a themed party.

Essentially Everything in One Place

Target – clothing (men & women), appliances, furniture, groceries, makeup

Who doesn’t love Target? Also who doesn’t spend five hours here meaning to buy one thing and then end up buying a bunch of things you didn’t know you needed. Pretty much everything from technology, to food to cleaning supplies and clothing can be found here. There are few things Target doesn’t have.

3970 SW Archer Rd, Gainesville, FL 32608

JC Penny – clothing (men & women), appliances, furniture

Find great deals on clothing as well as appliances and furniture. Sale are happening all the time and they have a wide selection of items.

The Oaks Mall, 6481 W Newberry Rd, Gainesville, FL 32605

Bed Bath & Beyond – appliances, furniture, makeup

This is the place if you need a bath mat, shower curtain, blender, kitchen supplies or any other homeware item you can think of. They also have a coupon book that’ll save you a few extra bucks each time you shop there. They also have a pretty extensive drugstore makeup selection along with shelves of beauty supplies.

6855 W Newberry Rd, Gainesville, FL 32605

Food (so you don’t starve)

Trader Joe’s – groceries

It’s a classic and a must have. Everyone raves about the frozen section (and for good reason), which is great for a college student with limited time to cook and a ready to use microwave. It also has fresh fruits and veggies as well as all types of supplements, typically at a reasonable price.

3724 SW Archer Rd, Gainesville, FL 32608

Fresh Market – groceries

This is a little more expensive, but they have some products that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to find at Publix or Trader Joe’s. If you’re looking for a more Whole Foods type place then Fresh Market is pretty similar.

4120 NW 16th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32605

Publix – groceries, some house cleaning supplies

If you are from Florida then you already of a long, loving relationship with Publix. If you aren’t from Florida then get ready to meet your new love. This place has the best subs, fried chicken and pretty much anything else you can think of. It’s the equivalent of Albersons, WaWa, Safeway etc. in other states but so so so much better.

3930 SW Archer Rd, Gainesville, FL 32608

3100 SW 35th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32608

125 SW 34th St, Gainesville, FL 32607

4115 NW 16th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32605

5200 SW 34th St, Gainesville, FL 32608

As you can see there are a lot and they are popular.

Miscellaneous

Hear Again Music & Movies – vinyl records and movies

If you’re looking for a great collection of vinyls then look no further. This is the perfect little store in downtown Gainesville that has a large selection of records. There’s also a collection of movies in the back, mostly titles that are hard to find. Also the owner is very knowledgeable and super nice.

Third House Books – books and coffee

This is a new little bookstore that is trying to bring back the feel of locally owned bookstores to Gainesville. They’re opening soon so be sure to check them out!

113 N Main St, Gainesville, FL 32601

Out Reach Thrift Store – you never know

You never know what you’ll find here! They take donations of clothing and household items so it’s based on luck what they have in stock.
